Dr. Vijaya Vemulakonda received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Mississippi and her Doctorate of Law from Harvard Law School. She completed her urology residency at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to complete her Pediatric Urology fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital, University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr Vemulakonda is board certified in Urology. She is a member of the American Urologic Association and the American Medical Association and is currently a candidate member of the Society of Pediatric Urology.

She is developing a busy practice in Pediatric Urology at The Children’s Hospital. Special areas of clinical interest include antenatal hydronephrosis, vesicoureteral reflux, and genitourinary issues in children born with cloacal or bladder exstrophy variants and children with myelomeningocele, with an emphasis on the use robot-assisted reconstructive techniques in these patients.

Research interests include health care disparities in children with urologic anomalies, the effects of integrated care models on quality of life and health status in children with complex medical needs, and the issues impacting effective transitions of care from pediatric to adult providers. She is currently a member of the Clinical Faculty Scholars Program at the Colorado Clinical Translational Sciences Institute.
